Where and when to apply for a visa?

Where and when to apply at The Visa Application Centre (V.A.C.) for the Netherlands?

  • If you intend to visit the Netherlands only.
  • If you intend to visit several Schengen countries while not having a main destination and you will not spend less time in the Netherlands than in other Schengen countries, and if the Netherlands is your first point of entry.
  • If the Netherlands is your main destination while intending to visit several Schengen countries.
  • If you intend to visit the Netherlands Antilles or Aruba.
 People advised to submit their application direct to the Embassy:
  • Ukrainian/Moldovan visa applicants who are family members (partners, spouses or family members under 21 years of age) of a Union (EER) Citizen, meaning a Member State national living in another Member State;
  • Holders of service passports (Ukrainian/Moldovan diplomatic passport holders no longer need visa).They require a letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • First degree relatives of diplomatic personnel of the Ukrainian Embassy in the Hague.
  • 1st degree family members -children and parents (in law)- of personnel of international organisations (e.g. ICTY, ICC, OPCW) in The Hague carrying a privileged person document’ issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague.
  • Emergency cases (to receive medical urgent treatment, attend a funeral, or to visit a person who is seriously ill).
  • Individual applicants belonging to one of the above mentioned categories are allowed to submit their applications directly to the Embassy on working days between 10.00-12.00.
  • If you belong to one of these categories and will travel in a group with more than 10 persons, you are advised to contact the Embassy to be reached on working days between 12.00-13.00) to schedule an appointment.
  • Applicants belonging to the above mentioned categories may also submit their applications through the V.A.C. in which case the service charge of UAH 170,- is applicable. MVV applicants however can only submit their applications directly at the Embassy.
  •  The visa application can be done either by making use of the external service provider, the Visa Application centre (VAC), or directly with the Embassy. The external service provider charges some costs for its services i.e. on-line appointment service 24/7 hrs, phone in facility, application tracking system and an optional courier service. If you do not want to make use of the advantages relating to submitting your application through the external service provider, you have the possibility to submit your application directly at the Embassy. In that case, you have to make an appointment with the visa department of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands by phone.
