02 February 2013: Effective 4 February 2013 The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands changed the interview procedure for the applicants who had not been issued a Schengen visa in the last three years. The Embassy will not be conducting interview for the applicants who are first time travelers.

Please note that after assessment of the submitted documents the Embassy may invite the applicant for a personal interview if it is necessary to take a decision.
 
9 November 2012: Effective 1 October 2012 M-47 is not applicable for partners and spouses of Dutch living UA. The new form “Proof of sponsorship and/or private accommodation” has to be used for this category of visa. Important notification effective of 18 January 2010: Important Announcement for Moldovan Nationals

Beginning from Monday, January 18th, 2010, the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary in Chişinau (Moldova) will represent the Kingdom of the Netherlands regarding visa applications from Moldovan Nationals.

This representation by the Hungarian Embassy in visa matters will include the issuing of airport transit visas, transit visas and short-term visas in accordance with the Schengen rules.

If the Hungarian Embassy in Chişinau considers that all conditions for issuing a visa are met, it will issue the visa itself. However, if the Hungarian Embassy does not have, and cannot obtain the necessary information about the applicant, the references or the purpose of the visit, or if this Embassy considers that a visa should not be issued, or if the Embassy is in doubt whether or not a visa should be issued, they can refuse the application.

Applicants of Moldova nationals applying for visa for the Kingdom of Netherlands in the Caribbean must submit their applications via the Visa Application Centre in Kiev, Ukraine. The appointment can be scheduled via phone on working days from 09:00-17:00 hours at (+38) 0 44 5941265. Appointment for these visa categories cannot be scheduled through the web-site. The timeline of application process is 10 calendar days. To be able to travel back to Moldova after submission, the passport of the applicant will be returned back the same day of application. Please note: in some cases the Embassy may not return the passport back on the same day.

2. Payment
    When you make use of the courier service you need to make one payment for three different items:

The payment needs to be made before you send your application and is non-refundable.

3. Handling time
    The processing time at the Embassy will take in general ten calendar days; application/passport delivery via courier service may take additional 1 - 5 days.

    In some cases the processing time may take longer:
  • Omission: in case your application is incomplete or additional information is necessary to take a decision on your visa application, you may be asked to submit additional documents and/ or you may be asked to come for an (additional) interview. In this case the processing time takes generally 3 extra working days from the moment the additional documents are submitted and/or the additional interview has been completed. Please note that the Embassy and the VAC do not accept additional documents per (e)mail or fax. Documents can also be sent via TNT in case of omission. Maximum omission time is 30 days.
  • Consultation: for some nationalities (such as Belarussians) other Schengen countries need to be consulted before issuing visa. This consultation process may take up to two weeks;
  • Forwarding visa applications to national services (Ministry of Foreign Affairs/ Immigration and Naturalisation Service): if applications have to be forwarded to the Netherlands for further enquiry, the processing time may even take up to 2 months.

How to know the status of your application?
 
Important Announcement: Effective February 16 2011 applicants applying under visa category "Seamen" should submit their visa applications strictly 10 calendar days before embarking the ship in the Netherlands.
Appointment for this visa category cannot be scheduled through the web-site. Please contact our call-cenre 044 594 12 65 for booking an appointment. Please note: the appointment should be scheduled well in advance (at least 10 days before the attended date of submission).

With the introduction of the Visa Code from 5 April 2010 it is required that each Schengen country issues a uniform invitation/guarantee letter.
These forms will be announced via the EU-Web. As from 1 January 2011 this standardized form has to be used by sponsors/referents for visa applicants in which the sponsor/referent is liable for the visa applicant. This form has to support the visa application of the applicant. The form proof of sponsorship and/or private accommodation can also be downloaded from the following websites: www.ind.nl and www.government.nl or click here.

Dear applicants! Please note that you have an option to submit your documents at the Visa Application Centre or directly at the Embassy.
 
Belarussians: As of 21 December 2007, some Schengen countries need to be consulted before issuing visa to Belarusians. This consultation process may take up to two weeks. Belarusian visa applicants applying at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kyiv should take in mind that their passports will be kept in the Embassy during the consultation process unless they have explicitly informed the Visa Application Centre (VAC) that they would like to receive their passports back in the meantime and will resubmit their passports for further processing once the consultation process has been completed. Please note: in some cases the Embassy may not return the passport back on the same day.
