How to apply for a visa?

TNT courier service

Frequent travellers who already received a Schengen visa during the last three years may also make use of the two-way-courier service of TNT to submit visa applications or additional documents. This service is only available to visa applicants residing in Ukraine.

1. Appointment for submitting the application by TNT
   You do not need an appointment.
   
   
2. Payment
   When you make use of the courier service you need to make one payment for three different items:
   
   
   • Visa fees:
     • some categories are exempted from paying visa fees. Click here for those categories;

   • V.A.C. Service charges - 21 € plus 20% tax (in Hryvnya)
     
   • Courier charges - UAH 100.00
     
     
   • The applicant must ensure that all the information mentioned below must be accurately stated at the bank counter to make payment for VISA fees, Service Charges and courier service

     The payment needs to be made before you send your application and is non-refundable.
   
   
3. Handling time
   The processing time at the Embassy will take in general ten calendar days; the additional days are used for sending the documents.
   
   In some cases the processing time may take longer:
   • Omission: in case your application is incomplete or additional information is necessary to take a decision on your visa application, you may be asked to submit additional documents and/ or you may be asked to come for an (additional) interview. In this case the processing time takes generally 3 extra working days from the moment the additional documents are submitted and/or the additional interview has been completed. Please note that the Embassy and the VAC do not accept additional documents per (e)mail or fax. Documents can also be sent via TNT in case of omission. Maximum omission time is 30 days.
     
   • Consultation: for some nationalities (such as Belarussians) other Schengen countries need to be consulted before issuing visa. This consultation process may take up to two weeks;
     
   • Forwarding visa applications to national services (Ministry of Foreign Affairs/ Immigration and Naturalisation Service): if applications have to be forwarded to the Netherlands for further enquiry, the processing time may even take up to 2 months.
